Default Crush sleeve or solid spacer?

Never used a solid spacer when rebuilding a rear. Does it add strength or just save time?

Default Re: Crush sleeve or solid spacer?

The only purpose the crush sleeve/solid spacer serves is to keep the pinion nut tight.

I don't use a crush sleeve or solid spacer. I set the bearing preload, and then weld the pinion nut to the pinion gear.
