racing in overdrive?
I'm assuming your running a 4L60E, why wouldn't you run in O.D.?

First off, the 4L60E will not shift into OD at WOT and secondly the clutch packs in 4th are not as strong as the others. The ONLY thing I do in OD with my Pro Yank is cruise.

I have gone into OD at WOT hundreds of time. I know I'm on borrowed time doing it but it WILL go.

i dont want to spin the motor past 6,000 rpm

Why not? You won't really start to see any real increase in wear until above 6400 or so. I'd say you'd be safe till about 6600 before really increasing bottom end wear. This is of course assuming you have aftermarket valve springs. You should not rev the stock springs past 6200.
There is really no need to limit yourself to 6000rpm shift points.
