Default Linear and Progressive Rate Coil Springs

A friend asked me this question:

"What coil springs do you run, I'm looking for a linear rate set up in my opinion progressive rate springs are too soft. On our f-body cars we do not have 5 inches of good suspension travel, so I think progressive rate springs are useless."

What do you tink?

You may want to post this in the Handling forum for more response.

I am running H&R stage 2 springs and they are a linear rate spring (they don't look linear due to a "tender" spring that is built in to keep the springs in the perches while the car is on a jack, but those become solid spacers once the car is on the ground) I am happy with them so far. I'll be running an autocross in a month and that may change, but so far so good. I calculated the spring rates and they appear to be about 647 in lbs for the front and 258 in lbs rear. Good luck!

I'm running stock sway bars on both ends right now. I'm worried about lifting the inside rear wheel and having wheelspin problems with the torsen diff. The car handles pretty well right now with stock bars, the H&R stage 2 springs and Koni DA's....I may change bars after the autocross (I have race rubber in my garage for the car), but I thought I'd run it first and find out how it does. I am running 1.3 degrees of negative camber, 4.5 deg. of castor and 1/32 total toe out (tire wear is not bad, it's a daily driver). I'll be running with the Ohio Valley Region SCCA again this year (www.ovr-scca.org).
