Default 3.90 gears

I have an A4 TA with a 228r cam, 3400 stall, and full exhaust. I think im going to get 3.90 gears from Motive since its between 3.73 and 4.10. For those of you who have 3.90s in an A4, how do you like them? Also, what are the rpms at going highway speeds of 65-70mph?

dude in an A4 that is not a strict track car i wouldnt go over 3.73

not to mention 3.73 with a stall as big as yours is plenty

3.90's would be a great choice. I went with the 3.73's and I am very happy with them. At 70, I am at 2600 rpm. 81 mph I am at 3k rpm. So with the 3.90's you should be right around that area. I picked the Motive 2 series, and over 10k miles on them now, no problems. Also picked up half a second from 2.73's

So 3.73 would be better for my stall than if I got 3.90s or is it just better to use 3.73 since im using my car as a daily driver?

The 3.90's would be as much as you'd want to go with the stall. If you drive a lot, and you're not looking for every hp, I'd go with the 3.73's. Like I said, I'm very pleased with my 3.73's and I drive quite a bit, but I have a stock stall still. My gas mileage has been unchanged from the gear swap also.

I'd say if you don't drive a lot, the 3.90's would be great. Since you have a cam also, you have more room in 3rd than I do.

When do you shift out of third with your 3.73s?

~115 mph in 3rd at 6k. I'll have to get the exact mph but right near that.

i got the 3.90s but i dont drive it eveyday and they are a great gear if u dont run on the highway over 70mph. i have 3400 also and it works out very nicely.. and i have drove my car everyday for a couple weeks and it wasnt to bad..
