Will it hold?
New member here. Anyway, I am about to finish my engine build up in a few weeks and I have a few questions. I am going to have some 3.73s that are sitting at my house that Im getting installed as soon as I finish putting my new cam in. Im contemplating going with an SS3600 stall and a trans update that makes it good to 650hp. But after a few 3600 stalls, will my rearend go to **** or do you think it will hold up? Its the stock 10 bolt that will have 3.73s.

I do not plan on getting 650hp. I will only be seeing about 450 or so for the time being. I was saying that the update kit for the 700r4 makes it capable of holding 650hp, although I will likely never see those numbers off my LT4. I might run some different tires in the future, but probly Nitto 555R Extremes, not drag radials or anything. All Im really worried about is the rear end holding up for a few months while I finish buying exhaust parts, a suspension system, the Nitto tires, the Trans update, and an SS3600. That should only run about $3500 and then I can worry about the S60, which will most likely be my last major mod, aside from small upgrades like an aluminum driveshaft or some A-Pillar gauges.

the 10 bolt with a few mods will hold that power ok in an a4 car with the stall converter, but do not pedal the car if it gets loose. the driveline shock is what will break the rearend. by mods i'm talking a LPW(or similar) rear girdle cover and a solid pinion bearing spacer. your posi must be in good shape, also. don't put any more money other than those two mods into the 10 bolt. save up for a better rearend in the meantime.
