rear and noise.
when i really punch my car from a stop or a slow roll it makes a hard clicking sound in the rear and you can feel it doing it also. Does this mean that i have a bad rearend or is it possibly a malfunction with my trac control or is my rear end giong to explode randomly when im driving down the street.
by the way i never launch it. i tried it once when i first got it and its been on my mind since i bought it. im hoping its not bad.

theres not much i can tell u , there could b a lot of things, ur gears could b goin, ur posi, a lot of things, its hard to diagnose something by u just tellin us wht noise it is makeing, there r a bunch of possibilities....ur best bet is to either do it urself, or take it somewhere and have thm pull the cover for u and take a look at it, before something takes a crap on u

yeah im not sure of how to explain the noies. only way to really know is if you were sitting in the car with me and could hear the noise for yourself. im thinking about taking the cover off the differential to change the oils out and take a look at the gears and teeth and all.

The type of noise your are referring to is hard to diagnose over the internet. I would start by just doing routine maintenance, like oil changes and such to identify where it might be coming from. Where are you located?

you have an A4 so if you have stock gears then you eather have 3.23's or 2.73's look on the inside of you door and see if it says GU2 or GU4, GU2 is 2.73's and then put up a parts wanted ad in the for sale section and see if anyone has what your lookin for. Might as well upgrade to a 3.42's or 3.73's if your going to have to take it apart anyways IMO. You can get a set of used 3.42's for around 75 bucks on here or ebay, thats what I paid for mine, and I just installed them tonight.

yea mine are 3.23. im not worried much about the gears right now. the car will probably drive fine for another 30k more miles with no problems as long as i keep not driving like a jackass. so im not worried to much about it. at the end of the year when install ls6 intake, headers, and cam all at once and it gives me some problems im going to get a moser 12 bolt or something. not even going to **** with it.

i got the clicking problem to
I got that problem too. everytime you put torque to the rear (from a dig or a low speed)it clicks and it also does it when you put it in gear most of the time. I dunno?

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!! I had a entire rear end put in my car from a junkyard (3.42 upgrade from a 2.73) and the problem is STILL there, taking it back in on monday or tuesday.
