I use a Bearing Seperator and a 20 ton press. but becareful you can waste a bearing real easy. <img border="0" alt="[USA]" title="" src="graemlins/patriot.gif" />

Most shops use a special puller for this. Take it to a good repair shop or dealer and they can take it off. You have to press it on too. I took an old pinion bearing and honed the inside diameter and use it as a setup bearing. Pick the shim you want and assemble it without a crush sleeve. Install the carrier, set the backlash, and run the gear pattern. That way if you have to change the shim again you just pull it off by hand and change it. Then assemble it the right way after you find the right one. The right pinion shim is the only way to have a quiet rear. Sorry so long
