Default Beefed up 7.5 10 bolt?

Hey guys. I was wondering, instead of sinking the 2k into a 12 bolt, is there a way we could rebuild our stock rearends to handle decent power? I am on my way to destroying my stock rear end now, so I was wondering if I should start saving up for the 12 bolt now. TIA

Start the savings now. I've had a "rear fund" since I started racing. You can "beef" up the 10 bolt - but not to the levels of a 12 bolt or 9''. I believe moser sells axles fort the stocker, and you can upgrade the posi to one of your choice, but honestly its not worth spending all the money on it - just save and by the 12 bolt or 9'' and be done with it and do it the right way.

I have built a bunch of 7.5" rearends. First how much power do you want it to handle and second what type of driving do you do . Most people don't race there cars on the track with slicks and you can build a 7.5" rearend to survive street and track duty with Drag radials. I did have a guy who went out and put some MT ET slicks on his car and beleave it or not be blew out his Spec3 clutch and he's making well over 425 HP Na and he even used a 150 shot of Nitrous. I know he made over 20 passes and never had a problem with his rearend. Heres how you do it. buy a good diff l98ke a Torsen or a Eaton and a TA cover and a stud kit, then go buy some gears. I have installed every brand made so far from Yukon to plain box Richmonds, Strange, GM motives, blah blah blah and herers the most important thing you need to find a guy that can set up the pinion depth and the back spacing right the first time and after you break in your gears have funn driving what ever way you want. Now when I say drive what ever way you want dobn't go out and drive 110mph and throw tour car in second gearto make you car go side ways to take a sharpe turn at 90mph. just dive the car like you have some sense and buy the way you can break a 12 bolt and a 9" rearend and I would feel a lot better spending $800 compared to $2500 plus unless you have money to blow.
