spider gears Well I did it,I broke a tooth off one of my spider gears.Yea I know it's a 10 bolt but that's all I can afford right now.Has anybody out there did this too.Are those aftermarket diffirental covers any help.would this make my rear end a little stronger and are they worth the money?thanks..............ed f <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />
Re: spider gears Gridles help ring gear not to deflect away from pinion. It will not help spider gears. Spider & side gears are inside carrier, that is their support. Start savin' you'll be better off with a 12 bolt.

Re: spider gears Does SLP still offer take-out carriers for sale? I was under the impression they no longer have the take-out carriers available. I just pulled out my carrier yesterday; the spider gears were chipped and interlocked; as if I had a mini-spool.

Re: spider gears B-4 you go replacing the carrier is it broken? Can you just replace the spider & side gears? If the only damage was to the teeth itself, & not the pocket where the spiders ride in the carrier? I would suggest just fixing the gears then if that is the only damage. A new cover/girdle could only help. Hope this helps.

Re: spider gears Thanks for that info.I orderd a take out carrier from slp.I will fix what I have and then start saving for a heavy duty rear end.I was just wondering since I have to have my exsisting rear end fixed first then is it worth investing in one of those cover/girdels to help hold me over until next year when I will have enough money to have a heavy duty one put in.
