Default Welded Tubes, couple ???

I'm in the process of welding my tubes up on my 10bolt. I noticed that I am getting some gear oil leakage around where the axel tube goes into the center section. I have read some other threads that state that this occurs when the tubes are twisting within the center section. Is there some sort of seal to replace or is the only fix to actually weld them up so they won't leak?

FWIW - Please don't waste your time by posting just get a different rearend blah, blah, blah. I've got 410,s, Eaton Locker and all aftermarket suspension parts so I'm rolling the 10 bolt for a good while.

Open to all other suggestions besides replacing the 10 bolt.

Thanks,
Andy

I'd just do the bead, but you want to be sure the
tube has not already twisted any. Like clip a pair
of paint sticks to the back walls of the shock bosses
and verify by eye that they are dead parallel.

There's no pressure to speak of in the pumpkin so
you could probably seal it, presuming you can get
it clean enough for anything to stick now.

Welding mine caused no trouble of any kind.

weld is not supposed to stick. Weld is supposed to penetrate. You can weld through anything with a good old stick rod. LOL. I dont know what welding process you were going to use, but all you have to do is clean all the grease off with some kind of degreaser and make sure its good and dry. Then weld it up.

Much appreciated guys, I'm going to go ahead with the process of welding them up this week.

Thanks!

no problem, good luck. If you post some good pictures I will try and inspect the welds to see how you did.
