Default Broken Driver Side Axle

Looks like I got off easy on this one. Car has a lid, full exhaust, mt drag radials, and a textralia z grip clutch. Launched at 4k at the track. BAMM The diff and gears spin freely, no metal at all got in there. I can tell its a driver side axle for sure. How do I go about fixing this? I did some searching but didn't find much. Is the axle one assembly including the hub? Guess i just answered my own question.

So that there is pretty much what i need? Im not willing to dish out the 2500-3k for a new rear yet.. Need a better paying job!

Put the rear of the car on jackstands under the rear end. Remove both wheels, remove brakes, remove rear cover (draining gear lube into container). There is a small bolt on the carrier once the cover is removed (I think it's an 8mm), remove it. Pull paddle out, push in on axle to remove C clip and axle (same for both sides). Assembly is the revese of tear down, except adding new gear lube. There is a small plug that will accept a 3/8 square (I use an extension). Remove this plug and add fluid to the top of the hole where the plug goes. I use 85w140 for my rear end, but 10 bolts only last about 10k miles for me if I'm lucky.

ok.. looks like it broke right at the spline that locks into the diff.. so theres about 4-5 inches stuck in the diff, I cant even knock it in to get the c-clip off.. The other side was cake. So i guess i need to pull the differential? I removed both caps but doesnt seem like she wants to pop out. I dont want to mess anything up ya know.. Im just thinking that theres 4-5 inches still in there.. which i think is just in the diff itself so I could pop that out and work easier/ get any metal out that may be in where the axle is

I'm pretty much screwed. The spline wont budge so I can pop its c clip off then bang out the other way. And in order to split the diff it looks like I have to pop off the bearings since it gets in the way of the socket.. Any suggestions here??? metal is everywhere in this hole. sob

yeh but check this out.. I had to beat it in first so i could pop the c clip.. when i pulled the diff, as you can see it just kept mushrooming the metal.. plus all the metal would go everywhere. This was the best way imo. Came out great though, all fixed. Car should be back together soon.
