This is the video I saw with the dyno,

They say it put down 308hp but I see what your saying as they did not say crank or rwhp.

These are the v8s, but it gives you an idea of what 300lbs will do to you. First race is no good, Mustang got the jump...

Come on, can't a new camaro SS Scream the tires from the get go ?
Seems to me we should be hearing those tires light up at least a little.
I'd at least be power breaking that bitch to get her wound up, then let it LOOSE.
I think that the Video was rigged

The auto needs a tune to really light up the tires. I drove one for a weekend (2SS) and it depended on the surface as to whether I could spin the tires on launch. I do live at altitude, so power would be a little lower on average for me.

I think the L99 version of the Camaro is going to have a hard time vs. the automatic mustang. I think the LS3 is going to be a different story though. The LS3 camaro has a huge gearing disadvantage compared to the mustang and to the L99 camaro. Despite this, they have run as good as 12.5x bone stock at 110-111. The LS3 camaro can just barely make the 1/4 in third gear, and a lot of times people have to shift to 4th to avoid the limiter, the mustang just barely makes it in FOURTH, so the m6 mustang has a significant gearing advantage, and so far has managed nearly identical times in the magazine testing. I sure hope GM offers a 3.90 rear end to level the playing field gearing wise.

historically ford autos havent run as strong as GMs stock but maybe itll be different this time.

I like the new camaro quite a bit. I'll always be a chevy person over ford. If I had the choice between the new camaro SS and Mustang GT I would get the camaro. Ya the mustang is lighter but I too feel that dollar for dollar te LS3 has way more potential. In the end I will just keep my 01z28 and put a few more dollars into it and beat both of these. As someone stated I bought a muscle car not a luxury car. I don't need navigation or all the stuff that comes in the newer vehicles.
But I will say that I hope GM decides to do something about the next years model. Just to edge out the mustang so it will shut everyone up about the rave of the new mustang.

I'm sorry, but heavy cars are not as much fun. If I want a heavy, nice handling but fast car, I will get a used CTS-V.
We need to get away from the chip-foosification of every car. The wheels and tires are way too big on all cars now, especially the mustang and camaro. They are 29" tall tires! You can save 100lbs just by going to a 17 or 18 inch wheel with 26" tires. The problem is they won't fill up the wheel wells. You can have good looks and safety without pushing 4000lbs. Even the Mustang is creeping up there.

I am personally considering getting a L99 Camaro SS sometime within the next couple years and I can guarantee it won't be stock.
Ford is now FINALLY stepping up their game against the Camaro... Thats why mags are all over their nuts. I think they are tired of boasting how awesome our Camaro's and Trans Ams were over the Mustangs
Congrats Ford, for waking up after 15+ years, but guess what? Chevrolet will step up again, and you will be stuck looking at our sexy *** rear-ends like God meant for it to be
