Uh gm does not offer the l99 in the SS... That engine is only offered in the RS a6. ALL SS cars got the ls3 w/ m6. That being said, Id much rather have a G8 GXP over the camaro anyday. Might aswell have 4doors if your buying a heavy azz car... not to mention the gxp has much nicer interior imo.

L99
It's rated at 400hp instead of 426hp on the LS3. I love shifting on the street,
but with a good stall in a Camaro SS A6 knocks off a good half a second in the
1/4 mile. Plus the auto is easier on the rear and having 6 forward gears must be nice. The SS i drove was a stick and it was a lot of fun.

Yeah the L99 is what they call the LS3 version on the auto trans. SS's.

Edmunds has retested both the Camaro SS (the one they own in their long-term fleet) versus a new Mustang 5.0. The specs and results are here.

As I've been saying, this isn't a runaway contest for the Mustang. It has caught up with the Camaro but a 5.0 isn't going to blow an LS3 out of the water as many here thought when the first tests were published.
Also note the Camaro's structure is nearly evenly balanced. It was faster through the quarter, much faster weaving through the cones, put up more lateral grip, and outstopped the new 5.0 all while costing less and using less fuel. This SS also has nearly 15,000 miles on it.

How many threads are going to be made repeating the same exact information about this ****?
Every thread turns out the same. Some people suck the mustang's dick because they finally made a decent N/A motor that is capable of competing with the camaro and is actually a little faster. Then the other people that have too much pride to give ford respect for building a comparable engine get sand in their vaginas and bring up the past and talk about how the LS1 dominated since 98.
These threads are so ******* repetitive I don't even need to open them to know EXACTLY what's going on inside.

You can't tell me that my second paragraph isn't accurate.
To debate the two cars is one thing, but to use the same bs "ls1 has been dominating since 98" excuse is pointless. There is a new camaro and now there is a new mustang. Those are the two cars being debated. No need to bring up old body styles when those are not the cars in question. Everyone knows that the n/a 4.6's were turds and got destroyed by LS1s.
