300lbs on top of YOUR suspension, I agree!

What about the aerodynamics of the 5th vs the 4th. The 5th is practically a brick! Food for thought only....not hating.

I agree that the 5th gen does give up some aero as far as it looks. The flat front end and grill I don't see helping, but the rest of car is pretty sleek! I wonder if there have been any comparison between the 2?

The 4th design has a definitive aero advantage, specially a WS6 one. Maybe Im biased? LOL!! Honestly I wouldn't change my car as it is now, for any 5th gen.

5th gen SS CD:
0.35

4th gen:
0.33

2006 z06:
0.34

slightly better CD.
I love the looks of the 00-02 SS just to many things about the car. Valve springs suck, for serious use the rear end needs changed as we can all agree, the interior leaves alot to be desired along with the body flex from the hatch back design.

You're right. There's a much bigger HP gap between an LS1 and LS3 compared to an LT1 and LS1.

Here we go again.....

Go and read the thread and and exactly quote where I said that I despise the car. Personal attacks really weakens your argument.

It is a nice car, but does not appeal to me...plain, simple. I tried to bring forward the aerodynamic aspects and you posted a very interesting series of facts.......and then you go and do this. Great.

98 Corvette :
.29

3,245 pounds.

Thanks for playing.

I sold a 5th gen to buy a 14 year old Vette....don't even get me started about the shortcomings of the 5th gen platform.

I did not mention anyone, just an observation. Just like you stated the majority of 5th geners use a lame argument I say the majority of T/A guys don't like the camaro.

There's no doubt that this is an awesome car. I'm a "T/A guy" and I really like the 5th gen. I think it's a cool car that is selling really well right now. This being said, it doesn't feel like a Camaro to me. The 4th gen was streamlined, light, and had t-tops that set it apart and made it more fun. As an enthusiast, like many others I look at the IRS and ~3900 lb curb weight and shudder. Does that mean it wont move out? No. It just means it's going to need more HP to do it. I also don't like the feel of heavier cars in the twisties. Each car has its ups and downs and the 5th gen really is a sick ride but I'm standing by the idea that the 4th gen was the last real Camaro.

I posted an 06 Z06 being .34 which is correct compared to the base model which is .28. So, you were just trying to prove me wrong?

This statement is 100% on mark.

Here's where the trouble starts in a 5th gen....to propel it down the 1/4 mile in the 11 second range, it takes gobs of HP to do so. Once you hit the HP level required to do so, the rest of the drivetrain begins to explode...ask me how I know.

The LS3 is a stout engine...look no further than a C6 Vette to see what it can do in a lightweight chassis. GM took a Vette engine, married it to a sedan chassis and slapped a Camaro badge on it. If the 5th gen came in at 3600 pounds, it would be a holy terror.

Oh, I took it different then. being called mr. big dog and "thanks for playing" looks condescending.

Don't take it that way...it wasn't meant in that manner.
