Default Supercharger.. Which one?

Hey guys,
Experts/vendors.. Please advice

Camaro 2011, 6-speed, AR-headers & off road X-pipe, Borla S-type muflers, 416 stroker short block, 9.5 compression with 70cc heads

Seeking a good supercharger kit and heads/cam recommendation.
Goal.. To hit 650rwhp on 93 octane and go with a smaller pulley to break the 750rwhp border with higher octane fuel ofcourse

you could do that D1 procharger....I have had a roots and a procharged car and I have to say the procharged was ALOT more fun...And you can get to 750+ on a D1 on regular pump gas

Whipple. 650 RWHP with mods in my signature. Stock bottom end and heads. With a 416 and ported LS3 heads or TSP, MAST, or Trick Flow aftermarket heads you've got that easy ..... on 93 octane.

I've seen people with whipple and upgrading to 8 rib
Is it becessary?
How much room do I have to grow with the 2.9?
As mentioned.. I have built a forged 416 and am planning to go with the GM Ls3 heads but CNC'd and hallow stem valves.

No doubt an 8-10 rib setup would allow for more boost (without slippage) but would not be necessary, IMO, for you to attain your stated power goals..... you could get to 750 pretty easy with a forged 416, ported heads, and a 2.9 liter whipple with the 6 rib setup.

This is encouraging :-)

I was looking at Texas speed blower cam and I've seen that they have the whipple supercharger at their web too.
Shall I take the whole package?
It says tuner kit and without tuner kit
That kit has injectors as well! do you guys think that I need their injectors?

Btw, am dropping the compression to 9.5 and running stroker motor that has bigger/more CID's than the stock ls3 and heavier components.
Which needs more boost to make the power levels am talking about. What do you think?

You'll need bigger injectors. You'll also need to address fuel pumps.

I still think you can get to 750 with the 6 rib whipple and a 416 with 9.5\1 compression.

That said, I don't have a vast reservoir of 416 Whipple experience so don't take my opinion as gospel.

I'd make some phone calls to TSP, Vengeance etc and tell them what you want to do.

If you want to wait a bit, I am sure some of the site vendors will chime in over the next couple of days and offer their thoughts. Also, I know there are a more than a couple of people running blown 416s on this site so they can help as well.

Lastly, post this on the forced induction area of the site. It get's a little more traffic then this area.

Z0vette,

Abandoned the Whipple 2.9 and Installed a f1x to get to 1000

Just in case you think I sell Whipple Superchargers.... haha.

If you want to grow into the 1000 rwhp realm the 2.9 won't be enough charger. They do make them bigger but you can forget about your hood.

EPS blower cam kit
Kooks full exhuast
MSD boost pump
65lb injectors
alky M15 nozzle
i made 712rwhp and put 35,000 miles on the car and never worked on it or had to!! loved it, got 23mpg, ran with mid to high 9 second cars on the highway and drove round trip from OH to GA weekly.

now...... i think ive put 700 miles on my car in a year and have had it apart more times than i have got to drive it. SUCKS

Check out the above link. I would go with the F-1A with your combination. Check out the dyno graph here that used an F-1A with our blower cam.

Sorry to hear that Martin. I'm happy with my Whipple too.... thrilled. But, the OP was concerned about growth beyond 750 rwhp so I thought I'd link to your build to help give him some additional insight.

Thanks for chiming in on this one.... I think Z0vette's got some things to think about.

Sorry to hear that man, This is the reason why am sacrificing power by getting forged internals

As mentioned.. going forge will drop my power levels a bit lower than you guys (stock motors)
The only issue here is that am doubting that I'll be making your power with my lowered compression short block.

Ok. So I was wrong about the hood comment for the 4.0 Whipple.

Awesome!

I agree with all these guys. They are great ideas! However I would never suggest asking for 650 + rwhp @10+psi on a stock bottom end. Even with mine as a daily driver on only 9psi I still beefed up the bottom end. You're just asking for trouble down the road that way.

He already has a forged 416..... and I've got 20,000 miles at 650 rwhp.

That said, I will be all forged by year end.

The Whipple is an EXCELLENT supercharger. We have installed MANY with ZERO issues. That being said, for this particular build and having "room to grow" I would suggest a ProCharger with an F1A Head unit.

Here is a build we did a few months back with a combination VERY similar to yours...

Feel free to give us a call to discuss your specific goals/combination.
