Default Question on Modding 5th Gen vs. 4th Gen

Maybe it is because the 5th's are still sorta new, but it seems as though better times are being had with less effort on the 4th gen ls1 powered fbodies. Am I just not educated here? I have seen tons of stock internal 11 second 4th gens, but it looks like it takes blowers to get the 5ths there. Please enlighten me!

So many folks went 11.9 or quicker with bolt-ons in 4th gens, but I think you'll find that they had also gone some weight reduction. I easily saw folks going 12.3's at full weight with converter, full exhaust, tire, etc...

I think the reason we've not seen more 5th gens trying for 11.9 SI is that the cars are new and cost a few bucks.

ok, so is the consensus generally that the 5th gens *can* be just as fast or faster with the same mods, but it just takes time for the market to come around?

No, they *are* faster, but if your looking for track times then the 4th gen is the way to go. The 5th gen needs some suspension mods and still can't out 60' an SRA on the track in most cases.
