Default Optimal Lowering rate for the SS

I am considering lowering my Camaro, and I like a really low stance. Was wondering about how low can I go without sacrificing the performance of my handling. I've heard 1.25'' is the max but I believe that is a little too conservative.

Go with either the Pedders, or Pfadt ride height adjustable coilovers for a bigger drop.
