Can the new camaro save GM?

I think we need to put a tariff on all these junk Japanese cars coming in. Obviously the general public has "drank the kool-aid" from these paid off magazines and stuff. If the people are too stupid to buy generally higher quality cars made in their own country on their own then the Gov. needs to intervene. As far as American companies needing to copy the Japanese..I feel that's mostly what got them in this mess to begin with. Not everyone wants a cheap, boring, moped on 4 wheels. It's a total race to the bottom anymore.

Agreed! As I stated before, stick to what you are good at! Just like Harley Davidson...there is a reason that the Chrysler 300 and Cadillac CTS sedans sell so well - they are 4 door, RWD, AMERICAN cars!

Actually, the Chrysler 300 is very much a Mercedes as far as suspension and other parts go. It was based off I think it was an e-class Mercedes.

i think it could save gm if they started producing more of the cars and dealers wouldn't mark up the prices. i haven't seen any of the cars yet. theres 1 v6 at local dealer but other than that i haven't seen any on the streets.

I don't agree. The Camaros are actually not made in the USA, they are made in Canada, and many of the "Japanese" cars are actually built on US soil, and have proven to hold up better over time. So, by buying GM, I don't feel like I'm protecting American jobs, and by the cheaply manufactured parts I've had to keep replacing on my car, I don't think I'm getting a superior product, either. I've been pretty hard-core GM all my life, but killing Pontiac and keeping Buick? ...talk about drinking the cool-aid!! The corporate powers obviously do not hold the same values as I do.

You know I didnt read every post in this topic, but where I think GM messed up was
A. Killing the Fbody in 02
B. EXPENSIVE vehicles.
The demand now a days for the average family is SUV and pick up trucks. The Tahoe is what 47,000 starting? Plus any add ons you want, poor gas mileage it ends up being a very very expensive truck, mean while a Ford explorer is at low to mid 30's. Even GM sedans are pretty pricey besides the malibu which is a very nice good selling car but like I said I believe the demand is for SUV's. The Chevy Aveo which is very affordable is pretty ugly imo, the general public sees it and they would much rather get a honda civic, or a escort, so on and so on.

the main thing we as americans need to do is stop buying imported cars. the big three are making top of the line at very competetive prices a lot of times they are even cheaper. also one thing that gm does is actually pays their employees good wages and benefits. is it by chance that the majority of the imports that are being made are being built in the south where the wages are half what they are in they north. idk the whole situation sucks

I want a car made in America, by an American company, made buy non-Union workers who are compensated fairly (not overcompensated) in wages and benefits and NOT being subsidized by the American tax payer.
AND NO THE NEW CAMARO WILL NOT SAVE GM

I have to disagree, if we stopped buying imports and there was no competition the Unions would again push for more and more and we would still be dealing with poor quality vehicles just as we had in the past from Detroit. The imports put the pressure on Detroit to improve their products. Also not sure where your getting your facts but Honda and Toyota down south are not half of the north, in fact the latest concessions from the UAW bring them in line but I believe Ford UAWs are still making $6 more an hour.

I am sorry I have worked for import delearships and GM delearships. GM vehicles are overpriced junk.
How many years has GM had intake gasket leaking problems. 20?
