$1000 cam/pushrods/gaskets/etc.
$1000 Textralia clutch
$1200 CNC stock heads/valve spring upgrade
$1200 misc suspension upgrades
$2000 exhaust/intake upgrades
$2500 forged internals
$6K procharger/FMIC or Twin screw (personal preference)
$30K SS

$45k investment

NOT a stripped 1SS...although those will be available...

Your $45K, plus 2SS/Rally Sport/Ground Effects/Sunroof (roughly $10K), WITH warranty. For less than $60K...WITH an LS7...

If you did your plan on an '02, what would it's value be vs. a GMMG ZL1, today?

Nice math...

1SS versions will run under $50K, for those on a budget, or wishing for a lower-contented version (racing, perhaps?)...

BTW, "hail" back here, means a call to your insurance man...

I don't care for any of those options, i don't care about the resale value in 30+yrs because i will drive the **** out of it If i wanted a collector car to put away into a storage shed i would buy a UBER-Limited edition version for $65K

Actually the LS7 is pretty costly to produce, with it being handbuilt and all. Those UAW members aren't cheap to pay lol. The mass produced LS3 slapped on with an Eaton supercharger and intercooler is cheap enough GM actually has the z28 concept with this powertrain already designed.

Have you no completely ignored recent events?

no it is the intercooler that you see the supercharger is under it.
Another standout feature of the hood is a clear polycarbonate "window" that provides a view of the top of the engine's intercooler, with embossed "LS9 Supercharged" lettering.

Pretty impressive looking that 2012 ZL1.

Any info on how many will be built or price point? Not that I could afford one!

Default Finally!!

I give GM all the credit in the world for finally growing some huge ones and building this! First of all, GM seemed always reluctant to build something to compete with its flagship model the Corvette. Now they blow it out of the water with the ZL1! Like it or not, Chevy is proving that they want to attract every type of auto consumer out there, from the Volt, suv and truck lines through the Camaro options and all the way up to the ZR1 Vette.
Chevy rules!

I share your enthusiasm for this new car. I owned Camaros (Z28's) for 30+ years. However, I disagree the ZL1 will blow a Corvette "out of the water" - not on the strip and certainly not on the road courses. Although the ZL1 will have a 115 hp advantage, I question if the ZL1's performance will exceed a base C6 -forget about the Z06/ZR1.

You can't defy physics. The power to weight ratio advantage goes to the base C6 @ ~3,200 lbs compared to an SS weighs ~3850 lbs. The additional weight of a supercharger and the magnetic shocks is ~200 lbs. This puts the ZL1 in over 4,000 lbs which is 800 lbs heavier!

Ofcourse the Corvette will always have the performance edge over the Camaro, thats not what I meant, the differences are obvious. What I meant was that performance based customers now have more options when it comes to buying chevy.

Exclamation

$65-100K is too much for a 5th Gen no matter how cool.

A "New" LS7 427 '69 Camaro would be hard to beat.
