question on camaro design????????
but the 5th gen, 4,000lbs w/ driver??? are you kidding me???
okay so i sit down and think about the future and think about futuristic cars and the first thing that comes to my mind is stronger and lighter materials, lighter cars and safer cars
a lighter car will handle better, get more mpg, have a higher power to weight ratio and all around be a more efficient car
im going to be buying a new sports car in the next 2-3 months and im leaning towards the nissan 370z
the 370z weighs 3230lbs.!!!!! i would have to assume it handles alot better than the 5th gen pig and the interior looks alot better to me, alot more like a cockpit of a jet with the instrumentation
here are the numbers
370z.... 0-60 4.7 sec. and 1/4 mile in 13.3 sec.
5th gen "fat boy".... 0-60 4.9 sec and 1/4 mile in 13.0 sec.
did i mention the 0-60mph winner is a v-6???
and the 0-60 loser is a 6.2 liter v-8???
i would love to see a procharger on a 370z
i think gm said hey lets just make a 2 door G8 and call it the 2010 camaro when they should have said hey lets make a 4 seater vette and call it the 2010 camaro
any thoughts???
but thats just my .02 cents
good luck with your decision
Yeah I agree on the weight thing (could be lighter IMO) except seems all these cars have gotten heavier...
And do we really need another weight complaint thread?
I wouldn't be caught dead owning a nissan. Screw imports.

BTW 0-60 is meaninless, no one races for such a short time.
Take a look at a used C6, much better car IMO.
theres no doubt the 370 Z is going to be an all around awesome performance car stock, but good luck carrying more than one person anywhere with you. the two cars are directed at two different markets. its the same as comparing a solstice GXP with a camaro SS...why cant the camaro weigh as much as the solstice?!
and speaking of prochargers on a Z, the 350's were blowing up engines left right and center with boost, so this new engine that is probably more maxed out than the 350 was will probably have a very limited lifespan with a supercharger as well.
mod for mod, the camaro's muscle will respond very well with minor mods where the 370 Z will struggle to get too much more power out of it.
the camaro is also heavy because its build from some preexisting structure. if it makes it past this 5th generation im sure something a little more camaro dedicated will help bring the weight down...but really, with all the new government safety and emmissions regulations its tough making a mid sized car be light weight
I could put some 6.15 gear in my rearend and do 0-60 in like 2.7 seconds, but whats the point if the car want reach the finish line????
Go out and drive both before you make a decision...
Good luck...

The 370z is also a two foot smaller car and has two less seats... *******.
Want to talk speed? A 370z with a 1/4 mile time @ 13.8 would get smacked around by a 4th gen
The VQ35/37 is a very potent motor, but the LS3 has had many more years of building, plus as seen in the ZR1 and the new CTS-V's, they can make lots of power, gobs if you will, and still hold up to the strain.
BTW, heavier cars make more comforable cars. Try reading reveiws on the 350Z, they all complained about ride harshness, which is fine when you're young and spry and on a smooth track. Take it out on some pot hole filled roads and it'll sing a different tune.
Right on! The 370Z is a fine automobile and some of the Mags seem to like to compare it to the Camaro. The only real disadvantage with the Camaro is the weight and that will be addressed by individual owners. So we have to put up with a cheesy interior...again, but the areas that really count; Power, Price, ease of modification all go to the Camaro SS.

The only reason these two cars are compared is price, which is a retarded reason to compare cars. Get what you want, if it's out of your price range get the next best thing, in this case if the Vette's out of your price range get the Z. If your considering it you don't need the backseat anyway.
