Default Difference in V6 and V8?

On these new 2010 Camaros. How can you tell the difference in the V8 cars compared to the V6 cars? Looking on the outside.

The badges and the ugly mailbox slot on the front of the SS.

And the V6 has special rims in the strip down model, but you can have V8 rims on the V6...so that is not a sure fire indicator.

So is there not a for sure way if you are looking a one of these from the front at a distance? I know the badge in the grille is either SS or RS right?

Front grill on a V6 will have NO badge unless it has the RS package. V8 cars will have Silver SS badges or Red SS badges if it has the RS package.

SS cars have the Mail slot and the bottom grill of the front bumper is different.

Here is a comparison.

V6 1LT car on Left, 1SS car on right (thanks to the member: Number 3, on Camaro5.com)

Check out this link ( http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14642 ) for more pictures showing the difference in wheels, the rear of the SS with the spoiler and the 1LT without the spoiler. The only cars that are going to be difficult to tell is when the V6 has the RS package, being it will have the same size wheels as the SS has on it then.. otherwise the 1LS, 1LT and 2LT all have smaller/different wheels than the 1SS and 2SS cars do.

Look at the fog light placement between the two. The V8 car, the bumper sets a little lower to the ground.

The V8 tips are bigger, and the diffuser on the rear bumper is slightly more aggressive looking too.

Those front bumpers are too similar, I don't see the point in the extra effort it took to design, mold, produce, & stock both of them. They should have made it look much more agressive, or all the same.

Agreed! I don't understand why GM didn't make the SS car way different all the way around!

If you're looking at the side of the car, its easy to tell.

SS models have 4 piston Brembo brakes, V6 models have single pistons all around.

V6 (base wheels)

V8

I swear the hood likes higher on the SS but I think that's just the pic...
