I'm trying to find something within a reasonable price in the NYC area otherwise I have to extend my range. I found a 2SS going for $48,450. So I called the dealer and ask him what options it had... 2SS w/ RS package, sunroof, auto...WTF, polished wheels and stripes. And I know all the pricing on the options it came out to $38,400. So I asked him why the $10,000 markup...didn't say ****. Um because gm can't make enough of these cars to supply the demand. Sorry buddy get the F@&k out with that ****

As for the post in question, if your 98 Z is paid off.... I'd mod the Camaro you already own. The new ones are nice, appear to be built well, and I'm sure have a much better chassis design. But, for me it's not worth the $20+ difference in price, especially when my current Camaro is faster than a stock new one. If I was spending that coin, I'd get a used C6Z06.
Just my $0.02

That was just one random dealer, I have one that sells at msrp so I'm good. If I did buy one at that price it would be a Z28, Nickey, Tom Henry, Yenko, Dick Harrell or one from lingenfelter, and not from hennessy ... Stick to what you do best... Destroying vipers(personal opinion)

Phil! How the hell are you? how's that Turbo Camaro treating you? I agree with the wise comment above. If the 98 is indeed paid off and you have NOT already modded and played with a 4th Gen, then that is indeed the smart choice, depending on your goals. If it's a strait up track car, then even more so. If, like me, you like to go to car shows and cruises and can afford a payment and insurance, C6Z06 for 40-45K

the car has been paid off for a while, I just been busy for the past few years to begin modding anything but slowly started the rear suspension was first, UMI Dbl Adj. LCA's, UMI Dbl Adj. PHB, Strano Springs and Hollow Sway bars(not installed), UMI PHB&LCA relocation kit ordering soon, Koni's 4/4 soon then Ill move to the front of the car. the interior of the car will be upgraded as well. or I can stop modding save up and get a SS or Z06 if im lucky.

I bought the 2010 SS instead of modding my 1993 Z28. Although it has been tempting because I blew a head gasket on the Z and I had a hard time not slapping in a set of AI heads. Instead I decided to do the work myself and put the $1,200 I saved toward the headers. Once I sell the Z I'll more money for new mods.

Just think about all the mods you could do to your Z with the amount of money it'd take to buy a new SS. As much as I'd like to tell you to jump in with both feet and buy the new flashy Camaro, my financially responsible self says to save your $$ for now. If the body is in good shape on your Z, definitely keep it. Besides, if you wanted to spend all that money, you could easily get 150-200 more horse than the new SS if you spent it wisely on your Z. Just my $.02. And for the record, I do love the new Camaro.

its being modded, but I like the idea of having a new car too. Im the only one in my area that has a Z everyone else drives a 4 cylinder with a trash can attach to the back. I actually have a team of shitvic's that gather every night in front of a corner store/bodega near me. also I know evil bird is around my area but I havent seen him let alone met him.

I finally saw my first 2010 camaro on the highway today, a SS and I told me wife I would rather put some money into my 02 and still have lots left. I think the challenger looks way cooler anyways. But I would definately get a used c6 over a new camaro, zo6 or non.

there are very few Z06 in my area, at a reasonable price. both cars are in a different class, but when you think of it your buying someone's problems(doesnt apply to all, just saying)when getting a used Z06 or you can start fresh and new, no problems whatsoever at the same price with no miles on the clock. and for those who got the new SS nothing beats a new car smell.
