yeah prices are still high most places
I've only seen 4 colors so far (and literally half the cars were bumblebee clones)

there's a low mileage 06 GTO auto for under 16 locally ... blue/black ... has me thinking

I agree that the Camaro would be quicker stock vs stock, but i don't see it being a huge difference. I love the new camaros though. They are pretty rare around my town and dealers are selling them way over their worth .
Like I said man, I was surprised. It was a very close race but I was able to edge the GTO out. Both cars had sat at the same place for about 2-3 hours then drove the same distance together before a couple roll races happened. It wasn't a set up race, just a couple friends messing around. In fact both of us didn't understand the results. Perhaps another GTO with the same mods would hand me my ***, but that's what happened.

Fair enough, while the result doesn't "seem" right, anything can happen on the street. But i give you credit for the win none the less. As for an auto vs an Ls2 goat, it would be too close and i would think it would be a race between drivers at that point. I am very happy with the GTO, the car i really want would be the new CTS-V, but ill just keep dreamin for now.

Hey, that's me at #2 on the gto bolt on's......thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Note aside, I can say that stock for stock, my A6 G8 GXP is faster than my A4 GTO was.

I am really surprised to see the fairness of the comments, being this is a Camaro forum. The 05-06 GTO was no slouch and was also a pretty good sleeper if you didn't know your cars. There aren't enough Camaro track results, especially results with some great negative DA, so when more Camaros are on the street and more are at the track in the late fall or winter, then we can have more to judge by and the results will be more complete.

Understand that bone stock GTO runs in the 12's were few and far between, and remember the results have been posted on ls1gto forums since 2005. That's a lot of runs to get a good time.

My guess is that the (stock for stock) 05-06 GTO is about .1 slower than the LS3 Camaro, but faster than the auto. 05-06 GTO vs. LS3, most likely a drivers race, again slight edge to the Camaro.

Right. So far, they've only been run in summer conditions. Still, I'm a little surprised, given the factory numbers, that no one on that list has hit 110mph yet. Most are pretty far off that number. In fact, the list looks about like the range that stock f-bodies ran in, from factory freaks to slowmo's. But as you say, the numbers should look better by wintertime.

The GTO is a great car, I like them a lot. I would give the A4 GTO the nod over the A6 Camaro just based on the problems some are having right now. I haven't had the opportunity to ride one yet so I don't have an accurate way to compare them. The M6's are a different story. I think a lot of people will be surprised when they start to run in low DA and low temps this fall.

I agree, i think 6spd vs 6spd the Camaro is gonna have the edge, but the auto vs auto i think the gto has the edge

My 05 auto is 3850 with me in it(160). That was on stock 18s, half a tank of gas and spare/jack removed. I cant complain about my gto one bit. I have owned 2 different fbodies prior. With longtubes and a converter so far I have gone 8.0 at 87 got in feb(no 1/4 here). My 98 auto was a full bolt on car and it went 12.5s with no interior and never went faster than 8.0 @ 86 on any 12.5 pass.
