Default Katech Torquer LS3 cam test results

This camshaft was tested last year by GM High Tech (http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...son/index.html) and scored very high overall in each category. We wanted to get some data on our own engine dyno to show the results with WCCH ported LS3 heads and validate our LS3 Camaro & Corvette head/cam package.

Engine: LS3
Camshaft: Katech Torquer LS3 224/236 .581/601 113LSA
Heads: WCCH CNC-ported LS3
Dyno headers
C5-R timing chain
Halltech air intake system
Everything else on the engine is stock

531hp, 480 ft-lbs

This is at the crank. 531rwhp would be 625 at the crank using our chassis dyno. Impossible from a mild head/cam 6.2L. Look at the cam specs. This is a mild, very drivable cam. We weren't going for the most radical, highest horsepower, non-drivable cam package here.

just curious when doing a cam swap i see allot of people do the timing change swap too.
Well i just took my car to a shop and he doesnt want to change the timing chain said not needed and al;so tends to be timing chain clearance issues.
do you think its just the shop not wanting to do the timing chain or what??

Some people have been breaking LS3 chains. We and many other performance shops always do a C5-R timing chain when doing a cam package. He probably doesn't want to deal with fitment problems of aftermarket timing sets, but with the C5-R you don't have to worry about that. It is a direct replacement chain that fits on the production sprockets.

Why would you name it torquer when TSP already has a cam named this? They run out of names in the cam name book?
