L99 Texas Speed VVT-3 Camshaft 100 flywheel horsepower/80rwhp!!
Finally we've finished dyno testing the AFM friendly camshafts & moved to the VVT camshafts with AFM delete. Today we tested the VVT-3 camshaft in our shop test car. As most of you guys probably know the larger VVT-3 camshaft made over 100 flywheel horsepower gains on the engine dyno! After over a month just being to busy to test it, we finally got the opportunity to install it into the TSP shop L99 camaro. I must say I'm very happy with the results on both the engine dyno and in the car! The cam gained over 80 rear wheel horsepower to the rear tires! Here's the breakdown:
Car baselined with:
TSP Complete Exhaust System
TSP Underdrive Pulley Kit
TSP Cold Air Induction
Added For This Test:
TSP VVT Cam Package W/ AFM Delete Kit
500rwhp with PRC Aftermarket Casting heads here we come!!

Negative, we swapped them out for this one because this cam has more lift than the AFM lifters like. We do have VVT/AFM camshafts that are designed to be used with the stock lifters though if you're interested!

Matt or Jason,
How about one of these VVT cams on a 418 that you sell? Any idea what it would put out?

You gaines 290KW, or you're making 290KW at the tire? I can only assume that's your dyno number, because those would be some CRAZY gains from a cam swap What are the rest of the details on the combo, bolt-ons and the like? Did you dyno it before the swap?

Why add the ported heads if we just want to know the gains made by the cam?
I have an 2011 Camaro L99 I'm doing a AFM delete but I would like to keep the VVT system. I want to know the gains just from the cam. Track times and speed before and after would be great.

Where can I find the info/thread for the AFM friendly cam testing? I spoke to Aaron at TSP about having the AFM-3 Camswap on my 2010 SS Camaro and I thought the camshaft was the only part that was replaced during the swap, since the AFM is moderate and designed to work on the stock setup...

If you want to retain the stock AFM lifters, we recommend no more than .500: valve lift (with 1.7:1 rockers). While some of our competitors run a bit more, Texas Speed as well as Comp Cams have seen failures, some catastrophic, from running too much lift on those stock lifters. Our AFM/VVT cams o keep the lift under that mark and can be run with the AFM system fully in tact. or, if you want the extra power from more aggressive lobes and higher lift, then our VVT only camshafts are perfect for you and we offer the AFM/DOD delete kit to make it relatively painless!

Hey Guys,
Just picked up a new 2012 45th SS A6, and debating about changing the cam and convertor. Got 800 miles on it now, and having a hard decision about voiding the warranty.
Hows the drivability on the VVT3 with an auto? What stall would you recommend for this cam?
Its not my DD, but for road trips and weekend drives etc. My 98 has your .581 224/224 cam in it with A4, 4:10s and 3600 and drives fine on the street. Hard to describe, but I don't like the feeling of the convertor at low speeds or easy acceleration.
Whats the smallest convertor you suggest for the VVT3?
