Default camaro unveiling

My dad's at the 09 Camaro unvieling as I'm typing this and he says they supposedly have a "LS4" with 323hp and somewhere around 360-370 tq. Anyone else seen this?

I'm sure that is for the RS or something... I bet they do:

RS: LS4 323 HP V8
Z28: LS2 400 HP V8
SS/ZL1: LS7 505 HP V8

I don't know, do you really think they would make something that would rival the Z06? I can understand the LS4 and LS2 options, but the LS7 seems a little far fetched.

Guess we will find out soon.

Why on earth would they go down on power when they already put the ls2 in everything they can. I guess an rs or base model, but nowhere near enough for the Z28 or SS.

I'm betting an LS2 base model and a slightly more tuned LS2, like the SLP SS's with some minor boltons for the SS version.

I seriously doubt there will be a LS7 version.

i think rivaling the z06 is incredibly unlikely and if there is a camaro with an ls7 they would make about 20 of em and all of those would be put in a warehouse luckily, there is this thing called an aftremarket where you buy better than stock parts and evidentally these parts make MORE power and allow you to go FASTER

I believe the LS4 is the 5.3 liter Aluminum engine that's currently used in the Impala SS as a 303hp version.

As far as the LS7 is concerned: Don't you think they'll have a better engine for the Vette by then (09)?

It does not have the LS4, it is equipped with an LS2 at 400HP.
Go Here: http://web.camaross.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=61
And search "Camaro Concept" and get more information than you could ever possibly handle in a single sitting.

Anything "guionM" or "fbodfather" or "Red Planet" says can be taken as FACT.

Yes we all know the concept has the LS2, but the thread is about the production models which this guy claims to be at the unveiling of.

There is no production model. GM has not even formally announced that they will produce the car yet. I just got back from the unveiling and the car looks better in person than in any of the pictures I have seen of it. The concept has a LS2 engine in it.

Soon, there will be an LS9 (blown LS7) powered Vette. The Camaro won't get that engine. The LS7 Camaro is feasable, just like a 475 HP supercharged Mustang is feasable enough for production.

Dallas auto show starts tomorrow. The biggest buzz is the new Camaro that's going to be there.

I was told at the unveiling that it was formaly announced and was assured that it will be able to beat a 2009 mustang, but the person could not give any specific numbers

why wouldn't it get a detuned engine like the vette has? in 98 the camaro and corvettes both had ls1's correct? the camaro was given lower hp ratings than the corvette with the same basic engine.
