Ah, ya beat me to it!! I was sitting here reading 3 pages worth, thinking, "I know Scott answered this directly". Yup, the Transformers Camaro is a GTO .

As far as a 2007 Camaro being released? Nope. Since we now know it's being built in Oshawa, the cars currently being built there aren't scheduled for shut-down until, you guessed it, 2008. So late 2008 production of the Camaro is the best we're going to get. Deal with it .

5 liters and only 390 na hp isn't gonna compete with a 6.0 400 hp motor. They better come up with something else.
Ford is going to have to do better than that. I doubt the Camaro will get the LS2 when the next engines should be out by then. Especially if the Camaro matches or betters the mustang's weight.
I dont think Ford is trembling in their boots. They could likely compete with the LS2 next gen camaro's with simply a reworked version of the current 4.6 making somewhere around 300-350hp. They dont need to match it hp to hp. The mustang is a name that will sell. These current gen models proved that. In fact, the last gen models did too, considering those mustangs outsold GM's LT1 AND LS1 engines, both making considerably more hp. A 2002 GT (260hp) to an '02 LS1 (350hp). Now dont forget which of the two was pulled from production...

Now, I believe this new platform will [hopefully] be leaps and bounds better considering its new from the ground up. We'll see but dont look at solely an engine and expect it to stop ford in its tracks.

I don't think the Challenger will have problems competing with either which is why I think the Camaro will come out late 07 early 08.

problem with that idea is that, with the Camaro being assembled at Oshawa.. that timeline is impossible.. Oshawa will still be building other cars at that time

There are dealerships stating release in late 07 early to mid 08. Could they be doing that to get people in their door, yes but I have had 4 dealerships within a 100 mile radius of Charlotte, N.C. tell me this while looking for a Trail Blazer SS. There is even talk on www.camaro5.com/forums where others have gotten the same info from their dealership.

Is this the same GM that made it clear there was no camaro concept until the pictures leaked onto the web?
