Having an iron block would kill it for me. The weight displacement would be bad for corners If they get an aluminium block in that thing I would buy it for sure, LS7 be damned!!!

Thanks for the correction. I thought for a minute it may have been a road racing truck. Bad *** none the less.

I like the idea of smaller V8 diesel, but in a 1500 truck or Tahoe, not a camaro.

Not a problem. Hell...I've been considering following Banks eventually and doing my own Cummins Dakota in the far future. It would be one bad *** pick up that I can use to tailgate with!

While a diesel would in a camaro would probably not be what I'd buy, I still give mad credit to GM for even thinking about it. THAT is the kind of ideas that brings about innovation, and the kind of ideas that bring about real change for fuel economy and alternative energy. Kudos! And hey, what's not to say that they don't go Grand Am Cup racing with it?

I'd buy one in a heart beat. Just think about how a duramax runs, that would be awsome in a Camaro.

Put solar panels in the roof, hood, trunk (along with the disc brake electricity production like on the Prius)...a diesel/electric hybrid would blow away every hybrid on the road performance and fuel economy wise...the Prius would be a mad polluter compared to this car.

a lot of diesel clueless guys here. I'd buy a turbo diesel Camaro in a heartbeat. There isn't another engine platform that is so easily boosted up. A turbo swap and some tuning could turn that 360 hp diesel into a 600 hp setup no prob.

How hard would it be to produce an aluminium block turbo diesel? If they could make it of aluminium and keep prices down, it would handle so well!!! Is it price prohibitive to create an aluminium turbo diesel or will the engine just not handle it? I would guess if they used LS7 tech in mass production in this engine it would be hardy enough and the mass production would put economies of scale into effect. Or perhaps I am wrong. Oh, I WANT THIS CAR!!!

Not to mention the crazy turbo spool noise on the line with the mufflers removed, Grand National style...

I really like this idea and hope GM goes through with it, aka I'd trade my truck in and buy one the first year it came out.

ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME GM?!?!?! YARRR! BUILD THE CAMARO WITH A DURAMAX BADGE AND THEY WILL COME!!!
