They're the ones who dropped out of the muscle car race in 2002 when it was just getting big again... They should be grateful we haven't jumped ship to Ford who has their finger on our pulse, not us be grateful because they throw us a bone EIGHT YEARS later...
I mean seriously, this car was supposed to come out in 2007 and now it is a 2010 model?!?! How much can a company continually miss the mark and still be around...

now, in the past, they rushed cars to market and had issues with recalls and build quality problems. MAYBE they are working it all out before releasing it this time.
as far as engines go, the challenger wasnt hard to figure out. chrysler makes 2 variants of one v8 engine. it was obvious what would go into that car. GM makes man variants of similar engines, but we can take a few guesses at engine options. 3.6L DOHC v6, L76?, LS3? maybe the hybrid 6.0L motor thats in the tahoe. who knows.

They haven't built an f-body in over 5 years, and GM is still around the last time I checked. It seems that they're not going to fold up if a Camaro never comes back. Like I said earlier, too many people act as if GM owes them a new f-body.
Just be glad you're getting a new Camaro at all....they could go back to like it was in the 80's with almost everything looking the same and almost all being FWD. They even built FWD concepts of the f-bodies in the late 80's as potential replacements.
