camaro racer
Most people were like "no, I want my car loaded with every conceivable option" and "GM can't build a car with AC and Radio delete without loosing money" ...I'm thinking "dumbasses! I said an option code for ME-not a freaking ala-carte thing at a dealership". It wouldn't affect the masses at all. It's like no one remembers the 1LE on that board or are even previous Camaro owners.
GM can take what the've learned from the SS development and give the 1LE the parts they deem to harsh for the mainstream. Just leave out some of the fluff and the racers among us will take on the Ford's FR roadrace packages.

I ran my '67 RS all year around...in fact, the day it was stolen was the Dec. 26. 2000 here in Ohio. Snow on the ground, a defroster that barely worked, etc.etc. Most people thought "how could he drive that car around?" The answer is easy: I drove what EVERYONE drove back in the 50's and 60's... cars often had no power brakes, no power steering, roll up windows, and suicidal drums. We're spoiled with gimicks and the performance and mileage suffers because of it. That little stuff adds up in weight. I'm not saying make the car unsafe, but there are all sorts of things that can be done with Wheels, Brakes, Gearing, Fuel sumps, Oiling sytems, etc...that can be homologated as "legal" when the cars came from the factory with it....rather than being illegal when the racer does it at home. If 1LE doesn't happen, I'll have to go looking for the B4C Cop car option code
It's funny how EVERYONE (me included) is bitching and moaning about this thing's MASS.
Yet they ALL want it to be light despite it being over-optioned/loaded to the gills!!
Hell, why don't we just put an extra 200+ lbs. of I.C.E. in it to bring it up to a nice even 4K (or more
A non street legal 'body in white' would be cool for the road racers.
And a FULL delete/stripper, street legal 1LE (like the 3rd gens were) with Konis, springs, swaybars, upgraded bushings would be great for the rest of us 'hardcores'.
But sadly, as others have stated, GM is in NO position to offer this stuff.

They need to sell the car with as much profit built in as possible to even justify it's development/existence.
