This is the problem I'm seeing. Gas prices going up has limited my excess funds, and slowed the paying-off of my credit card debt, which I was on pace to do by next April/May. That date has been pushed back now because of gas prices. If they keep increasing, I may have to pass, which will **** me off.

Regardless, I will be there in September to see this thing "unveiled." I love being at the Speedway, and showcasing the Camaro there will just make it perfect. Like my own little SuperBowl.

I expect the V6 to be about 21k, the better V6 to be about 23, and the baby V8 to be around 25, with the SS and Z28 models hitting around 28-29. Now way is Chevrolet stupid enough to price a base V8 at 30k.

Also, to the Focus Group seeing four cars, it's very possible it was 2 V6 and 2 V8, with varying options. One could have been the convertible, 6 speed, while the other was a coupe automatic, and so on.

Dude no offense but i think your dreamin'. The 4th gen topped out at low to mid 30's. The new G8 GT (same platform as the camaro) is currently selling for $29,900. A new mustang GT 27,000 i believe. Lutz said the new camaro would shadow the mustang but be at a slight "premium". So thats where the extra $2k come from and i believe that a base v8 camaro will be $29K. No one is paying less than $28K for a base v8 even if it does have the LQ9 or whatever engine is in the G8 GT.

For the sake of GM's comeback, it would be outstanding to see the baby V8 around $25! It will be significantly cheaper than the main competition-Stang GT. But you all know it will be around $29-$30. Having 4-5 different engine selections isnt gonna help the prices either. They should offer one V6 & two V8's.

For once I agree with douche-bag here^^^.
If the 'baby' comes in at any less than 25K I would be shocked.
Step up to, say a 400horse car, Id expect no less than 29K, stripped!
Times are changin guys, we cant expect 4th gen pricing 7yrs later.
Sorry...

I still think that unless Chevrolet makes the base V8 affordable, the Camaro is going to tank. Either way, the Camaro is supposedly going to be an affordable competitor to the Mustang. I don't see that happening if the base V8 is 30k. A well loaded Mustang GT, circa 2008, is 26,988. A base or "Deluxe" GT is right at 26,000. I don't mind paying 4k for the name and heritage of the Camaro, but a lot of people will. And I know that the majority of sales will be V6's, but to keep loyal Camaro fans happy, I really doubt that a base model V8 will top over 26 or 27.

WTF are you talking about?

A “well loaded Mustang GT for $26.9k”? A sub-$27k GT isn’t well loaded, it’s nearly a stripper car. A “well loaded” GT is about $29-30k...even more if you want all the options. Stuff like HID headlights, upgrade audio, premium wheels, interior upgrade package, auto trans, etc.; all gets pretty expensive. Before you know it, you’re over $30k for a 300hp 4.6L. $26k gets you a zero option manual trans V8 Mustang. Not a well loaded car.

If the new Camaro is $32k-ish for a decently optioned LS3 V8 car, I think it’ll sell just fine.

Yes, thank you. We already know how much the camaro is going to cost, just look at the G8.

Camaro should cost a wee bit less than the G8, due to the lack of some extra doors. But I concede the point. You're right, we can't expect Chevrolet to price competitively with a lesser vehicle.

Production Camaro unveiling will definitely happen BEFORE this Indy 2008 event.

Um... When was the last muscular Challenger produced? 1974.

The Mopar guys have been waiting A LOT longer for their beloved brand.

Good to hear! Nice to see they are listening to the fans that have been complaining about the wait (for information and some engine specs I mean).

Demonspeed raises a good point. Mopar fanatics had to wait almost 20 years for their car to come back, and even when it did, it was a god damn 4-door. At least Chevy isn't screwing us over like that. It'd be kind of like Chevy putting a new fascia on the G8 and going "Look! A Camaro Sedan!"

True enough...however, once they Chrysler got everyone excited about the 'reintroduction'...THEY DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
GM has been draggin *** on this thing, and everyone knows it.
Better be worth it...

That's not true either. They had a Charger concept in 99 which teased everyone for several years before the Charger became available.

I have to retract my former statement, because public unveil is still set for the Indy 2008 event.

I think there's gonna be some kind of media unveil beforehand though, so perhaps we'll see some stuff online before the Indy event.

I'll update as I learn things.

Pawned!

Remember guys that the Camaro is supposed to be the poor man's muscle car. It will be competitive in pricing to similar cars.

Comparing prices between 2002 and 2010 model years? Obviously the MSRP is going to be higher then the previous 8 models back. Inflation and the government messing with everything is a bitch.
