Um, You obviously didn't read this thread or have a clear understanding of WHAT an F-body is. Please don't post if you are clueless...

But i think GM has a different way of designating their codes than Ford does. F-Body has been their platform since day one.

I would agree with you, but I think when you register a Camaro Z28 the Title says "Camaro." When you Title a Trans Am, I doubt the title says "Firebird."

But yeah, your point is valid.

My understanding (hey maybe I am wrong here) is that the F-Body was never a clean sheet re-design and was the original 'F-Body' from day 1 until the end with revisions made between generations but never a clean sheet start...

That's because it was build on the f-body platform the whole time, it won't be anymore. Foxbody to 05+ stang is a perfect comparison for the difference. There is nothing f-body about the 5th gen, because it isn't build on the f-body platform. It's simple really.

The title, registration and insurance for a Firebird TransAm says Firebird on it because it is a Firebird. You don't register a car model as its trim name.

My Va title and registration don't even say that. They say "Pontiac, 2 door hatchback".

+1

If Firebird T/A's were registered as just Trans Am's, I would be registering my truck as a Chevrolet LS....

Are you stupid or are you just not listening? The f-body was the body/frame platform that the camaro was built on and it WILL NOT BE BUILD ON THE FBODY PLATFORM ANYMORE. The f-body is dead. Is an 06 mustang a foxbody just because the mustang was built on a foxbody platform for 15 years? No, it isn't, because it is on a different platform now.

Stop ******* asking people, being a camaro DOES NOT make it an f-body, PERIOD. F-body does not necessarily mean camaro in any way and if you think it does you are uneducated. The two names are mutually exclusive. That's like calling the 4th gen camaro a 1st gen SBC car because they were associated for so long. It's stupidity, read the freaking posts and learn something.
