Traditionally, the Z28 was the more desirable model over the SS. Somewhere along the line, GM decided that SS sounded cooler and made the 4th gen SS the marque trim level.

With the 5th gen, the plan was to release the Z28 as the premium performance package, where it rightfully belongs. Supercharged V8, 500+ hp, etc...

So, if that happens, your "SS" would be considered a downgrade.
