Never tested there, but expect the SRT8 and GT500 to be somewhere in the 8:30 range.

It's not an earth shattering time, but it's quite respectable. When compared to it's direct competion it's top notch.

The CTS-V has 120 more HP, bigger brakes, better suspension, and comparable weight. The Camaro SS didn't stand a chance against a V. What surprises me is the Colbalt SS time, that little car is quick! Goes to show how much light weight helps.

I am very happy with those times...... not likely that many parts on the car will stay stock...... someone will find a way to fine tune the number down with some tweaking.

There have been ppl on this board with suspension mods alone nearly on the 2010 M@RO's Ring Time. It is a shitty time. A few hundred pounds less would have made this car shame many many more cars. It is not forgivable, this car has a hundred extra horsepower and a huge increase in torque.

Though I must admit the new brakes on this car and the IRS will be quite a boom for us. The weight is a huge hindrance.

It's a chunky car thats for sure, but given that weight disadvantage its not that bad. Hell, it beat an R32 skyline which is the lightest of the R33 and R34 types. I mean, of all the cars that are up there, there are very few if any at all that are in the price range of the Camaro. Besides, if people are buying it to autox they might as well get a C5 vette, thats designed for racing, not some pony car. And if it is going to be a race car, you can bet that it'll be stripped to damn near nothing to cut weight, then lets see a time.

I think is pretty good.I wonder who was driving it,their might be room for few improvement if it was a engineer again.

I don't see why some people expect 7:5X times, that C6 times, theirs no way the camaro will be that fast.

I know that but come on, We're comparing a Sport car vs Sedan car...Here's another comparison, The 2009 Camaro got 8.20 but look at the Nissan GTR R32 (1990-1992 can't remember) got 8:22, WoW GM did a great job by beating the GTR R32 by 2 seconds WoW WoW, This car is competing with cars that 19 years older...WOW Good job GM lol

GM should reduce the weight of this pig

I see what you mean compared to cars that are older, but as far as sports car vs sedan, sedan's are blurring the lines nowadays. Many of them are just as fast as most two door cars, especially high end sedans like the CTS-V.

Don't forget that the R32 was a heck of a lot lighter AND has a very advanced AWD system, and basicly the R32 Skyline was built as a competition car for what is essently Japanese stock car racing...so considering that a car that still makes about 315 hp, that is lighter, and has one of the most advanced AWD systems in the world being beaten by a car that, albet newer, is heavier, has a thinner tire (in contact patch I believe) and is also using a fairly simple IRS suspension thats putting all the power to the rear wheels, not all four corners.

Number of doors is pretty irrelevant, and its clear you've never been in a CTS-V(old one or new).
Once again, the Camaro is beating the cars is was set out to (350Z, Challenger, Mustang) and then some (Cayman, Boxster, STi, 335i).
This is actually a really good time for a $30,000 comfortable street car.

Excellent time! Any Camaro that can run with a 993 GT3 at the 'ring is a winner in my book.

8:20 is a great time for a 4000lbs car with only 8 and 9" wide tires. Thats beating cars like the E46 M3, 350Z, Boxster S, Cayman S, 04 STi, BMW 335i, and so on. Its only 2 seconds off a C5 Corvette... This would absolutely kill a GT500 or SRT8 Challenger on a track.

You have no idea what you're talking about.
Amen. FastFreddy, you must be stoned to make a statement like that.
