Let's remeber my country men the GTR from japan is here and that should be our main objective, whether you got a bowtie or a blue oval is not as important as kicking a samurai's ***

I do understand that the LS1 is the best motor out, the Gen 3's anyway with low cost, light, easy to mod, but I still love the power of a high performance 5.4 liter DOHC 4v. THEY do beat LS engines in power to cubics ratio. But they are heavy, and expensive so they lose all over again. Their's guys with 5.4's NA throwing 550 rwhp in the corral.net. But I'd still drop in an LS1 engine in my stang because its lightier and cheaper.

How is displacement compared to peak power show anything about performance?
What if you took an LS1, "destroked/debored" it (just go with it) to smaller displacement, and then added bolt ons to makeup for the power loss. So your back at 345hp, yet you are not faster, so what is the point?
What does actually matter is weight, physical size, and the torque curve.
An engine that is lighter, physically smaller (can be located closer to the ground, and closer to the center of the car) and has a flatter torque curve will be a superior engine.
Tell me, which is more impressive engineering:
Engine A with 5L, 400hp/400ft.lbs, weighs 400lbs.
Engine B with 4L, 400hp/300ft.lbs weighs 500lbs, and is physically bigger than engine A, and more expensive.

GM CHOSE to use a 5.7L engine and Ford CHOSE to use a 4.6L engine. GM CHOSE to make 345hp/375ft.lbs in 1998 (they were in no way limited to make only that amount) and Ford CHOSE to make 300hp/325ft.lbs in 2005. Neither tried to get every last ounce of power out of the engine, so whats the point of comparing them as if they did?
EDIT: you never answered my original question.
