i see no reason y it shouldnt surpass that quote.
even with a bone stock lq4 6.0 and t76 i put down over 570rwhp
and this was in 03'
the modern lsx engines feature improved rings, piston material, wrist pin and connecting rod design and most if not all oem lsx are equipped with mls head gaskets.
i think 550rwhp will be more common with ls3'
as 500rwhp was with ls1's with aggressive setups on the stock motor

I wasn't trying to imply that is all they would make (FI ls3 making 550), more that it will be commonplace, which is exactly what you are saying. I would think a turbo kit would easily push the stock block to the breaking point, or at least to where I would be concerned about the stock block.

Talking about the whole stock short block (pistons, rods, crank etc); the LS1/6 short block survived all day at 450-500rwhp, but beyond that it was up to the tune and how long. The crank has been shown to handle well over 800hp and the blocks are good up over a 1000hp without ill effects. To get there you need better pistons, rods, bolts/studs in general, crank (if going for all the marbles) and gaskets. Beyond that, you can go with a girdle for a bit, but really you are better off with an Iron 6.0 block or LSX block (GM rated at 2500hp). I think 550 will be a good mark for the new n/a short block especially with the new 5 layer mls gaskets and rod bolts. If it will be possible to buy the boost ready short block from GMPP (for CTS and ZR1), we know it will easily do 600 to the crank. We'll push it way beyond that...

It's going to be easy to slap a blower on this car since the motor won't be up under the cowl, so it will be easy to do.

why aren't they going back with forged pistons or did I read that wrong? And as for Nanokpsi..dude you are really being annoying...nobody cares about the point you're trying to make in an LS3 thread in a Camaro forum...go back to your ricer site or atleast the racing section
