Default Wheel Options for the 2010 Camaro

Is anybody else sick of these huge wheels car companies are putting out? The problem is they've also increased the size of the wheel wells. I was wondering what the new Camaro would look like with 15-17" rims instead of the giganto's that it and every other car has these days. So if you had the choice would you go with:

a) the factory base model wheels
b) the SS wheels
c) 18" or larger aftermarket wheels
d) 15-17" aftermarket wheels

C6 is smaller and comes with 19" wheels. Same with the Viper.

I don't see a problem with 18-20" wheels.

I do. They're too damn big. They aren't really in proportion to the car, from all the pics I've seen they're like 1-2 inches too big (at least for my taste).

Difference between the Camaro and a C6/Viper, is the Camaro isn't a sports car, those are. Sports cars generally look really nice with big expensive wheels, F-bodies look good with a few wheels, and generally the bigger ones are a bit much.

Then again, I've seen a few angles where the big wheels look nice.

My opinion anyway.

I thought I would comment since I was thinking this exact same thing today. Here is the problem for me: the large wheels (18”-20”) look best on the new camaro because the design is proportioned with large wheels in mind. However I defiantly prefer small (15”-17”) wheels because they offer overall better performance and the tires are far more inexpensive to replace. Just my thoughts.

Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way

Remeber the C4 it pushed the limits of factory wheels and brought out larger tire sizes. Gm is just keeping up the trend and keeping the tire companies happy! The wheel weels are much larger so I don't think any 15-17 wheel would look as good on this car as much as they would on a 3rd/4th gen.

Wow. I want one less now. If I wanted a Sports car, I'd cough up for a Vette.

The new Camaro was designed for larger wheels. I prefer 16"-18" wheels for cars, but they would look too small on the new Camaro. To keep the porportions correct on the new Camaro it needs 19" or 20" wheels. However I think anything larger than 20" wheels will look too big on the new Camaro.

but as for the question I agree nothing larger than 18 anything bigger looks gaudy.. my opinion. my 01 has 16s right now and I think they look too small to much wheel well showing.

From http://dictionary.reference.com/

sports car
–noun
a small, high-powered automobile with long, low lines, usually seating two persons.

*This car has a rear seat, making it a pony car.

*It's not small, the doors alone are ******* huge.

*Low lines? The 4th gens are ******* sky jacked.

*May be high powered but they always weighed a lot

*Sports cars are usually aerodynamic, look at the front of the new 5th gen, that's not a smooth aerodynamic front end.

Out of all the Camaro's the LS1's looked the sportiest and I still couldn't quite consider them sports car.

Maybe I'm just picky?

Exactly,
Call up your insurance company and tell them not to categorize a camaro under sports car. There are different levels of sports cars, some of it is subjective, yet its in the name.

Sports car by name is a car built for sports...... Motorsports. Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, GTO.

Okay. So, I'm wrong. Still doesn't look like something one would call a sports car.

"Hey Joey, that new Camaro sure is a swell sports car." Doesn't sound like something we'd hear in everyday convo, you know?

I see both points but it's all about your point of view and it really doesn't matter in the end
