It all depends on what GMPP offers that does'nt kill the warranty. I am hoping that the hot cam can be installed by the owner, if so that is what I want to do eventually, and maybe an exhaust depending on how it sounds and how restrictive the factory setup is. Hoping to get about 500 hp out of this, we'll see.

How hard would a cam swap be on this car? I mean, I know nobody actually knows yet, but I would assume you would have to drop the engine??? I have no idea what it takes on a 4th gen or GTO, so maybe somebody can fill me in. I guess you would have to remove the intake, the rocker arms, and of course the front components from the engine.

I assume you mean compared to the 98-02 camaros right? Any guess on the GTO compared to the new camaro? Looks like with the more upright front end there should be more room but I guess we will have to wait and see.

It should be def. easier to mod it if half the engine isn't under the dash board like the 4th gens.

To the O.P. I won't be getting one, but if I did I wouldn't do anything to void the warranty until maybe 20K miles (2.5 years or so).

I didnt mind doing the h/c swap on my car and I have worked on 1000's of different cars. If it is as easy or easier than doing one in a 4th gen ill be happy.

I recommend the crane valve spring tool for cam swaps...it works real good and lets you do 2 at once. Not sure if they have one or if the old one will work on an ls3...but ill find out some day.

From what I have read the stock heads flow so well that swapping heads would be for someone looking for the absolute most gains possible n/a and has some extra money burning a hole in there pocket.

Camshaft swap will be super easy - without removing the engine.

GMPP already has ported heads and a cam that will add significant gains.

We are feverishly working on a dealer-installed package for you folks.

sweet, but what if we'd rather do the swap ourselves? would that void warranty? its nice to see that there is already an aftermarket getting started before the car even comes out yet

I just hope that a cutom tune won't void the warranty. I have heard some bad stories from the vette guys. I'm hoping for a Corsa or Magnaflow, short shifter, CAI and a good tune for the first few years till I retire it from DD duty. Then the cam and possible turbo package will be added.

will you offer heads and cam for the car that will be under factory warranty or will it void it?`

Anything sold by GM Performance Parts (and installed at a dealer?) will not void the factory warranty.

Dealer installed parts don't void the warrenty and if it's like the other GMPP go fast goodies they have to be installed by the dealer to get the 3yr 36k warrenty out of them. They will also probably come with a dealer installed tune like the cobySS cars do. We download them direclty off of GM's computer and install them using the TechII.

I doubt I will have the fastest but I plan on a nice Corsa or Magnaflow catback, shifter and CAI while I'm DD'in it. After a couple years I'll do some long tubes, X-pipe, cam and gears along with a drop and some suspension goodies. Should be good for mid to low 11's.
