At one point it was speculated to be revealed in Indianapolis for the Indy 500, but now GM has officially confirmed the new Camaro will be revealed on May 16th at Belle Isle Park in Detroit, home of the Belle Isle Grand Prix.
The event is free to attend, but capacity is limited. I read that preference will be given (and special parking assigned) to anyone who will be showing up in a Camaro (any gen).
Jalopnik article is here.
Link for the RSVP and event information is here.

Kind of strange that no one has responded. The weight issue is what turned me off on the 5th gen. Hopefully there really is a significant weight reduction. Really liked the 1LE and the Z28 (except the price, just didn't get that)

My 2nd gen 1980 Z28 is a porker but my 2002 WS6 is much lighter. I'm looking forward to the (hopefully much lighter!) 6th gen Camaro. I might even consider one for my first new car since my WS6.

I hope they fundamentally changed the body style. I really liked the design of the Gen II and Gen IV Camaro, these are the body styles that I have owned. The Gen V, well for the $$$$$ I decided to buy a Corvette instead and 70,000 for the Z28????? these guys need to put that pipe down lol.

My humble, two cent opinion says that the car is going to look pretty similar to the current 5th gen cars. I'm just basing that off of the limited spy shot pictures that I've seen.
I don't mind the way the current 5th gens look, its just the weight issue that bothers me. Just think, the same or more power and hopefully a lot less weight. Awesome!

I never pay too much mind to these "leaked" photos after the catastrophe with the chevy Volt. The Volt they used in all the previews looked like a small camaro of type and then when they released it, well it looked like a a honda civic, toyota, NOTHING like what they were driving around. I was really interested in the Volt because of the looks even though you could not drive it very far without a charge but when I saw the real car..........never gave it a 2nd look. I'm hoping it's kinda the same with the new camaro Gen VI, I'm hoping for lower and wider and completely different and if not then it will be just another GM car I'm not interested in.

I hear you. I don't get too wrapped around the axle with spy photos either. I guess the real car will debut in May so we don't have too much longer to wait and see what the newest Camaros will look like.
I need another car like I need a hole in the head but this one has me a little excited. I hope the looks aren't a letdown. Oh, and the weight better be way down!

I'm sure we'll see a lot of stuff after this weekend. The interior is my big "must see" item, since we already know about the go-fast bits. It should come with an 8-speed, but those things seem to be so constrained at this point... We'll see soon enough.
I'll be looking to buy in about 3 years.

That roof line looks awesome. I was just talking to my friend the other day about how much the fastback roof line on the new Mustangs has really grown on me. The Camaro looks a bit similiar.
I'm most interested in seeing what the front end looks like. The spy pictures make it look almost exactly same as the current gen, which would be a disappointment.
