Default ls1 ecu

So i have a 98 z28 and i was told that they still used the 97 ecu in the 98s, and that 99 was the first year switching to a new ecu. Is this true? If it is could i replace my ecu with a 99+ ecu without having to make any changes?

pretty sure you can use one, but certain wires have to be moved and installed in different pin locations..

alright, thanks, i'll go to the junk yard and get one hopefully. It's a good thing my cousin knows how to work with the ecu wiring.

There is a post on here I have seen. The complete pin out has to be changed along with something else I can not remember.
