Temp Gauge Question
"Excluding the '98 year, all the gauges display a temperature reading of 210 degrees when the actual coolant temperature is between 180 to 226 degrees, once it rises above 226 the gauge will show the actual reading - making the temperature appear to rise and fall by a large margine in a matter of seconds."
I read this in another thread. I know the gauges are "dummy gauges" and dont really tell you much other than when your engine is off and about to burn up. But, how accurate is this. The reason I ask is because my gauge stays at around 190-195 when driving. Just curious because this would make my actual CT very low.

That's cause in '98 and back they were still Analog Gauges and are alot more accurate. The newer ones are a digital Gauge that the PCM sends a signal too through one wire called the Serial Data Wire. It sends like 4 different signals. When I wired in my 402, I used a 1999 F-body Harness and had to add a couple of wires to go into the Interior Gauges, one of them being the Coolant Temp Sensor signal to the Gauge.

I guess I should have been a little more specific. I was really looking more for the answer of what my actual ECT is when it reads around 190ish on the gauge. Like for the guys with HPT or EFI Live and such who have data logging capabilities, I was just wondering what the ECT's were when the gauge reads around 190's. I was just curious.
