when I was under 25 I bought camaro Z 69 sold it ,72 camaro rusted and 2 supra's 1 totaled and one with mechanical issues. as soon as I turned 25 and my insurance company gave me a green light I bought a Vette. Now that I got a Kid I needed extra seat.
so I bought a WS6 convertible. Certainly the LS1 powered car is a good value. IF I didn't have the Kid Id get a early 2000ish Z06

All the Corvette drivers are the younger crowd now. You got to realize that there are people who have been driving Camaros all their lives. I was born in 1955. Got my first N.C.D.L. at 16 (1971) and the used 67-69 Camaros were everwhere. I've owned 7 so far and I'm at every Sunday test and tune that the weather permits. So look out young dudes if you happen to be in the other lane at the track your racing somebody thats been driving Camaros since before you were born.Theres a bunch of us still driving Camaros and the main reason is just what 02 Camao SS said " I drive my Camaro because I think it's awesome." Of course I do get a kick out of outrunning the young dudes at the track so their buddies can give them hell about the old dude that kicked their ***!

Are some 20-30 YOA posters saying they don't want a sports or muscle car when they are 40 or 50?? That would be quite sad! I believe that once you are hooked on muscle or sports cars you are likely to own one for life. None of this mid-life crisis stuff. You are just an enthusiast at any age. Now if you have 5 kids and a lousy wife, yeah, you might not be able to own one until the divorce is finalized.

One thing to keep in mind is that the age distribution is going to be younger among owners who post on a car forum than it is among all owners.

Geez. According to this thread, I must be REALLY old then as I'm on my:
3rd F-body
2nd Corvette
4th Buick

To make things worse (shudder), I've owned 3 Lincolns! I must be ready to die any second!

Like NC98Z, I'm an 'older fart' - had Camaros off an on over the years and have always like the different body styles - wanted to start playing with the LSx series of engines, so found a nice one and been going from there. Corvettes are nice, but just not that interested in the 'image' thing - get just as much fun for a lot less money out of the SS.

I'm 28 and have an SS and a Corvette. I never really thought of either as an "Old Man's Car". That being said, I would think the age distribution of the LSx F-body drivers would be a little younger than the Corvette drivers.

My $.02 on this....I think the F-body was positioned as a nice, lower cost alternative to get performance similar to a Corvette (without some of the Corvette niceties). Hence, it seems like more of the younger guys go for the f-body's first and then go for the Corvette once their income is able to comfortably handle the higher payment. One caveat to that, I think we could continue to see this trend change a bit over time -- I could certainly imagine more younger guys jumping on a used C5 rather than shelling out $30K for the new Camaros.

I guess I am ancient......I have a Benz and an 01 SS. I do get comments from time to time about the Camaro being a redneck car though.

(I'm 28)

hahah wow, in my opinion the camaro crowd is one of the youngest out there.

from my experience from speaking with other owners, the average age of a camaro owner is relatively young (18-25).

on the other hand, the average age of a corvette owner is much, much older. i'd say 40-50.

NEITHER, however, are 'old man cars'. its all about personal preference and what the person is willing to pay.

just $.02 coming from an owner of both the vette and the camaro.
(20 years old, btw)
