I've been looking for a car lately, but they are scarce around here, and driving/flying far isnt so attractive. So ive just been wondering, how much does it cost, assuming i get the accessories from an ls1 once i get one, to build a motor? id be looking 408 LQ9 territory, so no 427 TT Warhawk blocks ![Icon Lol](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/icon_lol.gif)
done a little research and found anything between 7-10k. hope some people can chime in with their experience.

I am in the middle of an LQ9 build as we speak. Had the block show up last week. Rotating Assembly being custom machined and cam is on the way. I am reusing my heads, intake, etc...
So far (for me atleast)
LQ9 Block- $500 shipped (can be found cheaper, but shipping gets expensive)
Rotating Assembly- Depends on quality and choice... call it about $2500-$3000
Cam- $400
Heads- Depends on quality and choice...call it about $2000
Intake/TB- ported FAST 92/92...close to $1500
Machine work plus bolts, gaskets, all misc. items...
Gets pricey fast. If you don't already have parts to put towards the new motor, I'd suggest contacting a vendor, such as TSP, and having them build you a complete longblock. Probably get a good deal doing something like this.

thanks rampage. i responded btw. and im in STL, missouri, but if its cheap to drive somewhere i could always do that. TSP aint too far either.
dankl, yeah i realize it wont be cheap. i thought maybe just buying a real high mileage car and throwing it in that.

If you don't have a core, I'd rummage through the FS section on here for one. Find a cheap core for a few hundred bucks that you can have machined and whatnot.
