Default Knocking motor

I have a 02 ls1 and it has a nasty knock. It was low on oil so i drained the oil and pulled the valve covers and everything looked good. anyone know anything else i should look for before i have to pull the motor

When I hear "tick" I usually think valvetrain but when I hear "knock" I usually think the bottom..... Low on oil makes me think bearing. Can you pinpoint where the noise is coming from.

can also be easy to confuse it with piston slap, does the noise accelerate as you higher the rpm's, and does it go away when she heats up. And you would be surprised how many ls1's tick and have nothing wrong with them

mine has piston slap for like the first minute when cold and has a little valvetrain tick but i dont worry about it runs like brand new. There noisy motors and most of them have some kind of a noise
