**** there's a guy on ebay that has a picture of my sunset orange metalic calipers with camaro ss lettering on it. I e-mailed him and asked him to either take it down or hook me up with some camaro ss caliper decals since that's what he is selling. He came at me with the bullshit saying that I had agreed to let him use my pics on his ebay listing a year before. I never said he could use it and we went round and round so I gave up. He should of done the right thing and gave me some extra decals but didn't happen.

reminds me of something similar that happened to Brent Franker over on cz28.com a few years ago.
he was found someone on ebay selling a bunch of appearance stuff. i want to say it was some of his vinyl overlays.
well the guy used pictures off Brents website....and the dumbass was stupid enough to hotlink them.
so brent went through and changed the pictures to a bunch of stupid pictures....men in thongs, fat chicks...etc...
and they showed up on the ebay page.
i think he even put one that described the guy was a scammer...something like "I'M LYING...THESE PICS ARE STOLEN"
it was priceless.....needless to say the auction didn't stay up much longer

If you upload the pictures publicly I believe they become public, at least that's the policy of just about every free hosting site and facebook
Anyways, that's pretty sweet that a stand up guy borrowed your pictures. People who use photos that other people upload without permission aren't always so chill.

With anything, you have to read the fine print. If you read the terms of service at say Photobucket, if your profile is set to public, then yes anyone can take your picture and use it or whatever. If your profile is set to private, or a setting where the media is only available to view on a specific site, then no, you can't take someone else's stuff. And I am sure every term of service is written differently.

And then it gets even trickier when someone steals your pictures from a private server and uploads them to someplace public like a photobucket album. At that point everyone has has "legal" access to a pic that was originally obtained illegally. Internet law is obscure at best and even if someone directly steals your pic, unless you have metadata proof and a $$$ lawyer you're not getting a cent. Props to the guy who took the OP's pics for doing the right thing.
