With this kind of attitude about weight reduction, well you might as well not do any at all. Every pound adds up. I'm now going to go look, seems the rear seat brackets are only spot welded according to this thread, I'm gonna go take them out too.

^^Yea, they are spot-welded, all of the Brackets back there. I just grinded down the spot-weld, and with a Hammer and Screw Driver I popped off the piece of steel.

I took mine out yrs ago. I put them in if I am WANTING some extra passengers for a trip or something. With em out, it's easier to keep people from constantly wanting to ride with me. People can be such moochers these days.

i still have mine in, but i lay the back forward cause my dog sleeps back there when i road trip, gives it a little more room to slide things in from the hatch. plus it looks better, and you can tell people you dont have back seats and they wont be any wiser.

the interior looks ugly as hell with them out. if you want a true 2 seater, buy a vette. and all my friends know how uncomftable the back seat is, so they dont ask me to drive anymore.

I don't like giving people rides because they always need more room behind me.... I'm 6'4 so there's no room behind my seat... I thought about taking them out but I agree with everyone else that it would look too unfinished... there's really no point as far as weight reduction.... personally I want a nice race/street car that when it's hot... i can turn on the AC.... am I wrong for wanting the best of both worlds??? and not wanting to give anyone but my girlfriend a ride??

I took mine out, got some rear seat delete boxes and now there is an amp in one of them. Going to go with some black lightweight carpet too to match the boxes.

I removed the rear folding seat and seat belt assemblies, but left in the cushions because they weigh so little and help alot with sound deadening. Works and looks fine for me.

Those delete boxes look pretty damn cool. I might have to see about making myself a pair.

I took my back seats out and get disgusted every time I look back there. I've just been too busy or lazy to put them back in. It just looks hacked and incomplete so they'll go back in tomorrow.

Mine are still in.. maybe in like 5 years when my car is actually fully built.. then I'll consider taking out seats, heater core, A/C, etc. to save weight.. for now its going to be a streeter.. not a gutted

Get rid of the seats if you want to put other stuff there.
Or because people don't fit back there... and continually try.

Why reduce weight when you can increase power instead??
