Default cherry bombs

i have a 00 LS1 T/A. as of now it is bone stock. i have big plans but until i get the money saved up i just want some good sounding mufflers. i know some people who have cherry bombs and like them, i was wondering what you guys think. also what size mufflers would i need. on the cherry bomb site it gives the dimensions on the mufflers. anyone know what clerance i have and what fits the best? i was looking at either the vortex or pro serries. louder is better but i am a bit concerned about the back preasure.

There are plenty of other mufflers out there that will sound very good.

Some popular choise for a 'loud deep rumble' are

-SLP bullet mufflers
-Magnaflow bullets
-Borla XR-1's
-Sweet thunder chambered
-moroso spiral flow's
-flowmaster 1-chambers

I would choose any of the above I listed based upon over-all crafmanship and sound quality. Hope this helps.

yeaah, most people on here don't use CherryBombs simply because they tend to make an ls1 car sound like a 70's pick-up truck with the exhaust hacked off... BUT if you like the sound then by all means... this is just the general consensus from what I've read in the past here.

I have the cherry bombs and I love them. Great sound, very similiar to 1 chamber flowmasters. If you have seen a 1 chamber flow the cherry bombs look exactly like them. I dont have any clearence issues but my buddy has them and he does. We both had the same shop do our true dual setup so i dont know why i have more clearence. But i dont know why these guys are saying dont get them. These are the single chamber cherry bombs not the old shitty glasspak setup.

^^You expect someone to post a reason not to get them based on facts like low exhaust flow or quality of workmanship? Probably not gonna find that on here.

I don't know how the new design flows or sounds, I'd be interested in knowing though.

Most people including myself would look at other brands over Cherry Bomb due to the cheapness of the old designs and the stigma attached.

Cherry bomb extremes are almost the same design as a single chamber flowmaster like i said before. Its not the old shitty muffler that most people think. I will post a soundclip as soon as i can. Most of them dont turn out because it is too loud and i have to get pretty far back from the car because of the camera. I have changed my exhaust setup 3 times because i wasent happy. I am very picky when it comes to sound. Of the choices out there that i have heard the only ones that sound worth a **** in my opnion (I know this may make some people mad so dont get offended) are the cherry bombs, single chamber flows, moroso spiral flows and there is a spintech muffler ive heard that sounds good i just dont remember which one it is.

Exhaust is an area where is very subject to change, because of people wanting to save money but not sacrifice that aggressive sound they are looking for.

Please just do it right the first time, spend some money on a quality long tube headers, and a top notch exhaust system like a True Dual, Borla or my favorite the Corsa Premium catback. Do it right the first time, and you'll be pleased longer.

i don't see how a cherry bomb bullet style muffler would sound much different than a dynomax bullet.

Your mistaking the extremes for the older glass pack bullet style mufflers.

I guess you don't think 10 series flows sound good either then...

Your right, this isn't 1970s, it's almost 2009, and guess what, Cherry Bomb has NEW stuff too

Did you read the thread? It has already been said at least twice that the Extremes are a chambered style muffler

I don't think so Tim

WOW, what pure IGNORANCE in this thread....

As already mentioned NUMEROUS times, the cherry bomb mufflers that he is talking about are NOT a "bullet style" glass packed dump truck sounding POS as everyone is ASSuming. They are a chambered style muffler that from the outside look EXACTLY like the 10 series Flowmasters that have such a great following on here.

In fact, the ONLY difference between the two mufflers is the design of the metal flap, fin, whatever you want to call it, inside the housing. The Flowmaster is a V design where as the cherry bomb is more of an L shape and the point of the L is offset inside the housing.

They have a deep sound, and not as much metallic rumble as the flows, but sound very good.

Maybe some of you should do a little research before you argue with a guy that actually OWNS them. After reading this thread and most everyones replies after a guy tries to explain the difference between these mufflers and the old cherry bombs from back in the day, you'd think that he never even posted, cause everyone just ignored the new-found information!

Just listen to the sound clip of my car, and if you think it sounds good, you'd like the cherry bomb extremes.
