Default Dealer and headers

The ignition cylinderkey switch on my car is bad so Im going to take it to the dealer since its still under warranty, only problem is the car has headers. Will it void my warranty once they open my hood and see it? The headers have nothing to do with the problem by the way

Yeah... they'll most likely tell you that the warranty on the engine is void... if not the whole car...

Very true... GM however is going to find a way to cheat you out of the warranty work though... but I'm not 100% positive... they might not even trip about it... I do know that headers will void the warranty

largley depends on the dealer themselves. i have a dealer here in town that almost no matter what the mod, they dont care. to some extent. just call them and ask.

ok. then call the dealer that your taking it to and ask them if it will void the warrantee. hell they probably wont even report the headers to the warrantee company. they have absolutly nothing to do with the switch anywas.

why would the company even give a ****? the only time we've called chrysler to void a customers warranty was when we found an factory installed oil filter on a SRT-10 ram at 32k miles. another time we had a cummins engine blow up and the customer only had 3 oil changes in 80k miles.

you've got a bad ignition switch not an exhaust leak. you'll be fine.

Its against the law for a dealer to void any warranty because they see aftermarket modifications they have to prove that a certain mod caused a certain failure. At least in my state...

Is the ignition cylinderkey (whatever the **** that is) under the hood?

No, the ignition lock cylinder is on the steering column. If they look under the hood for it, you've got more to worry about than a voided warranty.

actaully they wont care and if they do theres a law that they have to prove that what you installed had to do with the part that went bad. I have headers on my car that i installed and when i take it in for warrnty work i never worry.

this is whay i thought, my friend with a mazdaspeed 3 looked into it here. he just started modding it and said hed fight it if they tried to screw him. im pretty sure they have to prove it caused the failure, but fighting in court migt not be worth it...

Well you would have to read in the paper work of the warrnty that it says any aftermarket parts voids it if not they have have to prove the headers in your case is what caused it. Just google Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act
