Depending on what your definition of finding something "amazing" is, I'd say that right there might be your problem, but I'm sure the deals are out there. Just keep your eyes and ears open and be prepared to travel for a good deal.

I'm quite sure I could find a nice LS1 that would satisfy me for 6300 fairly easy. Not sure about the Mustangs you mentioned as I haven't followed their pricing.

I found my first SS on EBAY and the guy ended the sell early and sold it to me. I flew across country and drove 1,200miles home.
I bought my Current SS out the LSX classifieds right here on LS1tech. the guy met me halfway and flew himself home, we each drove about 250-300miles. As you can see i dont mind going the distance to get the car I want.
You'll find one, just keep your eyes opened and be ready when it comes along, good luck
