Default Anyone have any tips on sharpening or flattening 3/8'' steel dowles?

Just as the title says, I am looking for a way to sharpen or flatten (2) 3/8'' steel dowles. Reason being I was ready to slide my old cam out tonight and use these to hold up the lifters, but I can't figure out a way to either sharpen or flatten the ends. I have a sawz-all but it was a bitch enough to cut them...no way is it going to stay steady enough to sharpen it. I tried putting it in a vise and tightning it and that did nothing besides draw blood, then I even found some metal looking sand paper and tried that. It made the dowles nice and shiny, but didn't do much other than that. Anyone have any ideas?

try a bench grinder. Make sure you don't push too hard, I launched one once....

File will work but you will might be there for a while. Every cam I have done I managed to get away with out using the dowles. But I would alway leave the push rods on the lifter and spin the cam over to make sure the lifters would stay up and not slide back down. If they would stay up with the push rods sitting on them I would pull the push rods spin it over again and yank that cam out and quick put the new one in.
